Robert Jospe and Inner Rhythm will be performing the music of Joe Zawinul. In 2010 Inner Rhythm performed this repertoire for the Wintergreen Summer Concert Series. The legendary Joe Zawinul, one of the most influential jazz musicians of the 20th century, pioneered fusion, the use of electronic keyboards and synthesizers, composed many jazz classics including Mercy, Mercy, Mercy and Birdland. He worked for ten years with Cannonball Adderley, collaborated with Miles Davis composing "In A Silent Way" and playing on "Bitches Brew" and along with Wayne Shorter founded Weather Report. The concert will include selections from the different eras of Zawinul's career.
Performing with Jospe will be Jeff Decker, Bob Hallahan, Adam Larrabee and Randall Pharr. The concert is sponsored by the Charlottesville Jazz Society and the Virginia Commission for the Arts.
