Since 1992 Robert has received an annual touring grant from the Virginia Commission for the Arts for the band and his educational, interactive, lecture/demonstration The World Beat Workshop. See videos here!

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts
This program is organized by the VMFA Office of Statewide Partnerships, and is funded, in part, by the Jean Stafford Camp Memorial Fund. Since 2001 Robert has received funding for concerts, assembly programs and workshops throughout Virginia.
John and Maria Kluge Foundation
Robert has received funding for his educational and community outreach programs including the World Beat Workshop, Learn To Groove, and Rhythm and Resilience. In 2004 Robert received funding for a World Beat Workshop tour of Hawaii’s public schools, libraries and community centers and in 2006 for high school programs in all of Virginia’s juvenile prisons.
